Last Saturday I was pleased to spend the day at a Fall Festival hosted by the ABC Parent Group. The event was outstanding and all who attended made beautiful new memories.
I would be remiss if I did not express my sincere gratitude to everyone who made the day possible. It warmed my heart to see SD81 alumni, parents, grandparents, teachers and community members come together and volunteer their time to make the event a success.
A little less than one year ago Robin Fiala and Kara Blomquist shared with me their sincere desire to start a parent group. The first meeting of the ABC Parent Group was held on January 15, 2014. I am amazed by what they have accomplished in such a short amount of time. The commitment and leadership these ladies have dedicated to the development of the ABC Parent Group is commendable.
With the help of many parents, this group has held luncheons to show appreciation for teachers and staff, planned events for students and families to create new memories, coordinated classroom helpers for seasonal celebrations throughout the year, provided leadership in spirit wear orders, and have supported our schools in countless other ways.
I offer my sincere appreciation to every member of the ABC Parent Group. I am excited to see your membership continue to grow in support of the Schiller Park District 81 Learning Community. Your positive attitude and smiling faces continue to inspire your fellow parents and community members to get involved and support your efforts to serve the students of this community.
