Shining Stars Burning Bright In SD81!

February 20, 2014

It was another great day in District 81 yesterday! My morning began with watching four of our SD81 teachers present to a standing room only crowd of educators at the NCLB Conference in Chicago! As you can see from the photos, our teachers are leading their colleagues in the transition to the Common Core Standards.  They were selected to present the process our SD81 teachers and administrators have created to implement the new standards.  I looked on as a very proud Superintendent, and I speak for all of the faculty and administration that we were honored to share our work with our fellow educators at this important national conference.

Last night SD81 did not have its regularly scheduled Board meeting because we did not have the required number of board members in attendance to call the meeting to order.  We did, however, proceed with the Example of Excellence, which was a performance by the Washington students who participated in the  musical Annie.  I want to thank each and every board member, the many parents and families, dedicated teachers, supportive community members, and Mayor of Schiller Park, Barbara Piltaver who came to see our children perform.  The children put so much work and effort into performing for us.  I’m so happy they had such a receptive and caring audience!
