Some exciting opportunities to broaden horizons have been offered to District 81 students over the past week. On Wednesday, March 13th the Lincoln choirs attended VanderCook College of Music’s Choralfest on the south side of Chicago. Middle school and high school choirs from all over the Chicagoland area participate in this non-competitive festival. The ensembles received feedback and suggestions on how to improve their performance, as well as a clinic following their performance. It was a great learning and cultural experience for our students, and I am so proud of our participation in these special experiences.
Fourth grade student from Washington School, Jose Olmos traveled downstate with his family and a group of District 81 supporters to Bloomington this weekend for the Special Olympics Illinois State Basketball Skills Competition. Thank you to Jose’s wonderful family and the group of educators from our district who were there to cheer him on! Teachers Jason Tucker, Sue Piltaver, Lisa Polina, Kristen Waszkowski, and Director of Special Education Kim Cline got to see Jose awarded with a silver medal for his outstanding basketball skills. Good job, Jose!
