Highlights from a Wonderful Month in District 81

March 11, 2013

Winter Fun – Some lucky students got one last chance to play in the snow before it melted. Lincoln students from the SLC/SLBC enjoyed sledding, snow ball fights and making snow angels.  It was the first time sledding for some of the children, and they couldn’t have been more excited.  What an amazing experience for the students and for the dedicated educators who bring joy and fun to their day.

Music Boosters Pancake Breakfast – If only every Sunday we could eat a delicious pancake breakfast and enjoy fantastic entertainment! The 11th Annual Pancake Breakfast organized by the School District 81 Music Boosters was another hit.  The District’s talented band and chorus students gave us a great performance. Thank you to the staff and volunteers who make this event special for the entire community.  I know that it takes a great deal of time and work to organize the community events that we host, and I am grateful for our school community’s efforts.

Special Olympics Gymnastics Meet – Congratulations to the athletes who competed in the Special Olympics gymnastics meet held at Palatine High School on Sunday! I am so proud of these students, as well as their coaches and the District 81 administrative team members who spend their time and energy preparing for and attending the competitions. We would not be able to give our students these opportunities without your dedication.   The Schiller Park Sharks gymnastics team walked away with medals from the event, and  the team is wearing them proudly today in school! Great job!

I hope you enjoy these pictures. Have a great week!
