District 81 Athletes In Training

The Special Olympics Athlete Oath: Let Me Win. But if I cannot win, Let Me Be Brave in the attempt.

Each one of us faces challenges and obstacles in our lives, and often the only thing we can control is our own will to persevere.  School District 81 is home to classrooms filled with brave, determined, and talented students, and compassionate educators who guide and care for them every day.  I see this especially in the student athletes and their coaches who have begun training for the Aquatics Special Olympics competition. The competition will be held in March, and is one of several events that our students will participate in.

The beautiful pictures below were taken at Triton College, where our team – The Schiller Park Sharks – trains once a week.  I am so proud to lead this amazing school district that offers life-changing opportunities for its students!
