Special Olympians Go Downstate

It was a very busy weekend for District 81 students. One of the many events our students participated in was the State Basketball Skills Event at Illinois State University. District 81 had two students qualify for the event. Both Juan Licardie and Gabriella Galizia demonstrated stellar basketball talent and skill. Several District 81 teachers and staff attended the event to support our students. The students were fortunate to have Mr. James Kennedy as their coach. He prepared them well for the event, and I am pleased to announce Gabriella Galizia earned a silver medal and Juan Licardie placed fifth in the state competition. I am very proud of both our students and staff. District 81 is an amazing place to work and learn!
