December in District 81

December 19, 2011

December has been a very busy month for both students and staff in District 81! Our District Band and Chorus entertained us with a Winter Concert on December 8th. The mood was festive and light-hearted as the students and their teachers gave the audience a glimpse into what they have learned this year. Ms. Olsen did an excellent job planning for the event preparing the students for the performance.

The Example of Excellence at the December 14th Board Meeting featured the band and chorus entertaining the board and those in attendance with holiday music. The students gave a stellar performance, as always. I was very proud of the talent and enthusiasm displayed during the short performance at the Board Meeting.

The Preschool and PATS programs held their Annual Holiday Tree Decorating Party on December 14th at Kennedy School. The event is always well-attended, and the students along with their families had a wonderful time creating crafts and enjoying holiday activities together.

The Lincoln Chorus had a special winter concert on December 15th. The chorus students were excited to share what they have learned so far this year. The audience had a great time singing along with the Chorus. A special thank you to Ms. Klein for her commitment to the fine arts.
